Addictive Ones

TV watching has changed completely with the rise of digital formats -- back 15 years ago, the idea of watching a show on VHS from start to finish just wasn't convenient or very common at all. Now, it's par for the course, and the brilliant, addictive nature of some of TV's finest series can be seen by everyone. Here are 5 that will keep you hooked.

#5 Gossip Girl

Following the machinations of these spoiled New York rich kids might seem strange at first, mainly because they're such jerks and their private schools are so fancy. But when you have money and privilege and combine it with Manhattan and an insanely juicy plot-line, you've got the recipe for a show that's as addictive as a hard drug. If you get the DVD boxsets, be prepared to stay in your house for many days.

#4 True Blood.

Sure, this TV series is about trendy vampires, but takes it all in a completely different direction from Twilight and its ilk. Once you start following the whole Sookie Stackhouse story closely, you'll realize you've been completely hooked, and the only way to wean yourself is by finishing all the seasons.

#3 Jersey Shore

Reality TV at its absolute finest, Jersey Shore places a series of insanely exaggerated extroverts into a New Jersey beach house for the summer and watches the ridiculous, overblown, hilarious fireworks. People are continuously fighting, creeping, macking, and all the rest, and when you watch it all with the dvd boxsets, you'll have had your "guido" fill for many a year.

#2 The Office

Talk about addictive -- not only is this show hilarious in its send-up of corporate culture and office inefficiencies, it also amazingly inserted a wonderful romance that has its many, many fans clamoring for more. If you go through the show on DVD, you'll really see how wonderfully it's been done.

#1 Lost.

Lost has taken its lessons from the old serials of the 1950s: keep the audience wanting more, and you'll get them hooked for the entire run. Possibly the most addictive show in history, Lost has hooked viewers around the entire globe, and is even worse when watched as a dvd boxset. - 20763
