What Are The Signs That My Girlfriend Is Right For Me?

.

So you've got a new girl in your life and you're pretty happy, right? Or, not? Every guy wonders about this eventually; you're in a long-term relationship, and things are going okay, but pretty soon, you're asking yourself, "How do I know my girlfriend is right for me?" After all, that's no small question. You do need to know she's the "right one" before you pursue real commitment.

How do you feel about who you are with her?

With every "new dating" scene, people have on their best "face," if you will. So sure, she may laugh at your jokes on the first date, but if you're still together six months later, how is she making you feel now? Does she still laugh at your jokes, make you feel special, bring you a beer "just because" when you're watching the game? Or does she make you feel stupid, constantly complain about you watching football, or say that you're no fun? Chances are, if it's the latter, maybe it's time to find someone new.

By the way, YOU have to step up to the plate and make her feel special, too, but that's another topic. But hey, if she laughs at your jokes and doesn't mind that you wear sweats around the house on Saturday, well, you've got yourself some lady. That comfort level will definitely make things better in the bedroom, too.

Does she never have enough things?

This is not to say a girl can't look "fine," but if she's got a closet stuffed with designer duds and never has anything to "wear," look out. And if she expects you to foot the bill for a lot of her purchases or thinks it's okay to max out the credit cards, you may have someone who cares a lot more about appearances than she does actually being responsible with money -- or with caring about people beyond appearances. Just make sure she's a "real" girl who doesn't put things before people, including you.

Does she always expect you to pay?

This is a sticky one, because if you're the type of guy who always DOES want to pay, then you've got no problem. However, if you're more modern and you think women should be equally financially responsible, you may have a problem if she's always expecting you to pay. That may mean she also wants you to financially support her should things get really serious, and you may not be in a position to or even willing to. So make sure you're on the same page financially before you get serious.

Is she always expecting to find a better guy?

If you're "next" in a string of boyfriends and she's always on the lookout for "better," that's a warning sign. You deserve to have a girl who thinks you're perfect just because you're you -- even if you're not perfect, which of course you aren't (neither is she). If she's happy with you because you're you, great; you've probably got the right girl. However, if she's constantly threatening to leave you to look for "someone better," it doesn't matter how much of a catch you think she is. You deserve better.

Every relationship has its trouble along the way and that shouldn't stop you. You can have that wonderful girl who makes you feel great about yourself. However, if lately she's been giving you any of these warning signs, then it's probably time to call it quit and go get yourself a new girl. - 20763
