How To Decorate Unusual Spaces

As you have seen if you are house hunting, many older homes aren't proportioned properly when it comes to room spaces. Many may seem extremely difficult to decorate due to one wall being at a different angle then you're use to working with. Here are a few options when you are faced with an unusual space.

In older homes and even newer ones, many have bay windows. With a bay window you may wonder how exactly to decorate a bay window inside, what to place outside of the window, or even what exactly you should purchase for this type of space. Usually if you have a large window like this in a space it is a great idea to have plants. You'll receive enough sun light coming in to have your plant grow healthy. Another great idea is making this bay window a sitting area. By using great cushions or even a few different texture and patterned pillows, you'll have yourself an additional sitting area in this room. Purchasing cushions may be expensive in the long run but if you are handy with a sewing machine and a needle and thread you can always create your own pillows and cushions.

If you have a larger area and you aren't quite sure how to decorate this space due to the lack of window seating you may get frustrated. Try finding a great area rug in a pattern or even in an animal print to place on the floors to soften the look as well as hanging crisscrossed window sheers across the ceiling to soften the spaces features. Area rugs are a great way to make a rooms appearance change drastically without having to spend a fortune.

Children's rooms are another great way to create a unique shape into something fantastic. Try using this little nook area as a great table setting. You're little one can either use it as a great tea party area or as an arts and crafts table for coloring and other little projects they may be interested in doing. Just make sure to place an area rug underneath this area so it is protecting the flooring which is underneath from any damage which can occur in children's rooms.

If the area is a box like room and you aren't quite sure why they ever had a little nook placed in this design, don't be discouraged. Use a fairly large arm chair and place it in this spot for a great book reading chair. Hey who knows it may be your new nap chair if it's comfortable enough.

If the area has windows and there is a nice view, who knows, maybe a treadmill or a stationary bike in the offset would be more beneficial and you can pretend you are running or riding outside taking in as much of nature as you can. Sometimes, a nice view may be all the inspiration needed for staying on your exercise routine. - 20763
