Getting Motivated to Loose Weight

.

Losing weight is simple. The simple weight loss secret is this: eat less, eat better and exercise more. Simple is not the same thing as easy. Not by far. Losing weight requires you to get into a pattern and stick with it.

Most of us develop unhealthy patterns of being sedentary and eating foods that are not good for us. If you've fallen into that pattern, it can be hard to break out of. At times you will be tempted to skip out on exercising for just one day or having dessert just this once but won't do it again. Don't forfeit your long-term weight loss goals for momentary short-term pleasure.

Weighing yourself daily provides excellent motivation, and the numbers on the scale donat lie. You will see numerical reminders of your progress every day if you do this. When you feel like breaking your diet, just visualize how the scale would read tonight. That can be the boost of willpower that you need to turn down temptation. That can be the reason that you exercise hard every day.

The second thing you need to do is choose a long-term goal. Your goal could be a certain dress size, an ideal weight, or just being able to run a 6-minute mile. Whatever keeps you on track works just fine. You need to surround yourself with reminders of your goal. Make sure that you think about it at least a few times each day.

Creating a visual reminder of your goal and putting it in a prominent location goes a long way to ingraining the goal in your mind. Writing down your goal weight and keeping it in your wallet is a good idea, because you will see it every time you reach inside. Hang a picture of the body type you want on the fridge so that it makes you think twice before helping yourself to some ice cream from the freezer. Hanging your ideal size outfit on your bedroom door means youall see it first thing in the morning when you wake up.

Also make sure that you have a few supportive confidants. Explain you plans and outline your goal. Encourage your friend to ask you about your progress regularly. Use peer pressure to your advantage. If you need to report your progress to your friends at regular intervals, you'll stick with your diet and exercise plan. You wouldn't want to let your friends down.

Keep your eyes on your long-term goal, and don't let yourself be distracted by short-term success. It could make you lose weight quickly, stop your diet, and regain your weight quickly. Focus on long-term weight loss. Being competitive with your weight loss could be positive, but if you obsess too much about how others look youall start to feel depressed and disappointed.

So break down your ultimate goal into several smaller ones. Be able to take a quantifiable daily measure of your progress. You need your friends support to reach your goal. Weight loss doesn't happen overnight, so be prepared for it to take a while to see results. This is why you need a clear vision of your goal to see you through. - 20763
