Edmonton Wins CFL Shootout Over Calgary

The Edmonton Eskimos survived a wild back and forth CFL shootout against the Calgary Stampeders before prevailing 38-35 to take over sole possession of first place in the CFL West. Ricky Ray hit Fred Stamps with a 23 yard touchdown pass with just nine seconds to play to earn the victory, erasing the lead that Calgary had earned with their own TD pass less than a half minute earlier.

After the game, winning QB Ricky Ray said that he enjoyed playing in the shootout:

"That was a ton of fun. In the CFL you get to play in a lot of games like this, especially against a guy like (Calgary quarterback Henry) Burris, who has done this to us. It's great to come out on the winning end of a shoot-out like that. It's a great uplift for the team. It's a huge win for us."

With a bye week on deck, Eskimos head coach Richie Hall said that the outcome couldnt have been timed any better:

"Regardless of what happens, we are coming back in first place. Now we have one up on Calgary. It's going to be a dogfight for all the teams in the West and any chance you get to win, especially a win like this, it's a real bonus. It's great for our confidence."

Calgarys Burris remembered a very similar game last year where Edmonton won by the same margin on a last play touchdown:

"They got us last year in this situation and of course you didn't think it was going to happen again or even could happen again. It felt so great to get that late touchdown and with 38 seconds on the clock nobody was even thinking about last year. We had to stop Jackson and we didn't. And we had to stop Ray and we didn't. Kudos to Edmonton."

Both teams have a bye next week. Calgary returns to action on Aug. 28 in Toronto while the Eskimos will next play on Aug. 29 when they host Hamilton. The two CFL provincial rivals from Alberta will face each other twice more this season. - 20763

You have heard about lucid dreaming and think it is something you would like to do. That is a good starting point but exactly how do you begin and what are the steps to being a successful lucid dreamer?

It's important to think about why you'd like to become a lucid dreamer, too. There are a number of benefits to dreaming this way, but first we should look at normal sleep, so we'll understand them.

When you go to sleep, you get into bed, close your eyes for a certain length of time, and either dream or just see black for a few hours and then wake up! It isn't very interesting now is it?

Normal sleep just seems to serve the purpose of simply refreshing ourselves in order to live out the next day. But what if you could control that period of time that you have dreams?

Consider the idea of taking control of your own dreams. What would it feel like to purpose what direction your dreams would take you? Explore new worlds that are only limited to your control and imagination. This is what it means to be a lucid dreamer, kind of the ultimate fantasy world where you call all the shots.

So if you want to become a lucid dreamer how do you do it? There are actually two ways. The first way is having a dream-initiated lucid dream (DILD), which is where the dreamer is in a dream and then realizes that they are, restoring their sense of consciousness within the dream.

The second method is called WILD, and stands for wake-initiated lucid dream. This is when you start out awake and fall asleep, but do not experience a change in consciousness levels. This is the process of simply entering a dream, the same way you'd walk through a door, instead of waking up inside the dream.

How exactly do you induce either one of these lucid dream states?

Dream Recall

If you'd like to lucid dream, perhaps one of the most successful way of doing so is known as dream recall. Dream recall is simply the ability to remember one's dreams. By remembering your dreams, you are able to recognize them when you are sleeping, because most likely, you will have the same dream, or at least aspects of it, more than once.

To make dream recall easier you can keep a dream journal. This is a notebook or pad of paper that has the sole purpose of recording your dreams. Whenever you have a dream, you should write all you can remember in the journal as soon as you wake up. The longer you are awake the more details of the dream that will be lost.

Mnemonic Induction of Lucid Dreams (MILD)

This is a technique that was developed by Dr. Stephen LaBerge, one of the lead scientists studying lucid dreaming. The intent here is to simply tell yourself that you will remember something, like an object for example and then in the dream, when you see this object you will realize it is a dream.

Wake-Back-to-Bed (WBTB)

The process here is to go to sleep, doing nothing but setting your alarm to wake you up a few hours later (5 or 6). Once you wake up, DO NOT go back to sleep. Instead, do something else like read for a while, or think as much as you can about lucid dreaming for around an hour then go back to bed.

According to Stephen LaBerge, there is a 60% success rate of this technique. The reason why is that you would have woken up during the process of sleep, meaning that your mind is not fully aware of this, and are still in the middle of REM cycle. So basically, it's like going to your mind and telling it that you want to lucid dream.

Cycle Adjustment Technique

This was created by Daniel Love, and what it is, is setting your alarm to wake you up an hour and a half before your normal time. Once you've adjusted to waking up early, alternate your alarm to wake you up normally and early. During times you are to wake up normally, you're body will already be ready to wake up early, and therefore, you will be likely to be awake in your dream.

Wake-Initiation of Lucid Dream (WILD)

This method was described before. If you would like to achieve a lucid dream this way, all you have to do is to keep your mind awake while you body falls asleep. This is perhaps the most interesting way of entering a lucid dream. It is as if you are getting ready to watch a movie. You are in the real world, you sit on your couch, you turn on the TV and press play (starting to sleep), the screen is black (in the same way as when your eyes are closed), and all you have to do is wait for the movie to actually start.

To get into this correct frame of mind if you will there are a few tricks you can use. Focus seems to be key so try to focus your mind on things like your breathing, counting, perhaps chant or meditate. In a way, you are practicing self-hypnosis. Use this technique when you are not extremely tired, perhaps during a late nap.

Recent technological advances mean that dreaming masks and other useful devices have been developed. They contain strobe lights and other devices that are believed to induce lucid dreaming.

The most reliable and easiest way of inducing a lucid dream may be listening to binaural beats sound frequencies through headphones.

The sounds bring the two sides of the brain in synch. Your brainwaves are then converted to REM waves the time during sleep when you dream and the frequency at which lucid dreams occur.

UFC 85 Flashback: Alves Dominates Hughes

A day after failing to make weight for his fight against Matt Hughes, Thiago Alves dominated the former UFC welterweight champion en route to a 2nd round TKO victory. The main event at UFC 85 in London was somewhat anticlimactic to the fans at the O2 Arena who considered the semifinal matchup between Manchester's Michael Bisping and Jason Day the biggest fight on the card.

Hughes didn't make any excuses following his one sided loss, saying simply that hes a good fighter and he got me. The longtime king of the UFCs welterweight division also gave notice that his career as an active fighter was drawing to a close, suggesting that he had one fight left and challenging Matt Serra in what presumably would be his retirement match.

The end came early in the 2nd round as Hughes was caught coming in by a devastating knee strike. He fell to the canvas in a heap and referee Herb Dean was jumping in to stop the contest before Alves could follow up with any punches.

Michael Bisping simply overwhelmed Jason Day en route to a lopsided TKO victory. Bisping built upon the improved boxing skills he demonstrated at UFC 83 by unveiling an impressive ground and pound attack. Day never really got anything going and by the last minute of the fight was simply trying to cover up to prevent damage from Bispings elbows and hammer fists.

In other action, Mike Swick used an array of high kicks and a 7 reach advantage to coast to a unanimous decision over Marcus Davis. Davis, a former professional boxer, was unable to get inside against his lanky opponent and was never really in the fight. Like Bisping, Swick may have made an excellent career choice by moving down in weight.

A controversial point deduction for a strike to the back of the head cost Nate Marquardt his match against Thales Leites. Marquardt was solidly in charge for the entire fight, but suffered a point deduction for an illegal knee strike in round one. While that infraction was valid, replays of the 2nd round deduction for the strike to the back of the head gave the impression that he was penalized for a legal strike to the side of the head.

In the opening PPV match, another controversial ending saw Fabrico Werdum defeat Brandon Vera by 1st round KO. The fight had been evenly contested up until the stoppage, with Werdum scoring a couple of takedown and Vera countering with some effective punching. Late in the first round, Werdum got a full mount and began to fire a series of punches. Vera was clearly defending himself and didnt appear to be hurt at all when the referee jumped in to stop the fight. Vera said that hed answered that he was OK when asked by ref Dan Miragliotta and that he was just trying to ride out the round from that position. Mirgliotta was also the referee in the Kimbo Slice/James Thompson fight, and some have suggested that matchup was also stopped prematurely. - 20763

If you have made the decision to take cran operator training, there are a few things you need to know before you sign up or enroll into a program. It is important that any school you might be thinking of that offers such programs is certified. They should be certified by the National Association of Heavy Equipment Training Schools or NAHETS.

National Association of Heavy Equipment Training Schools offers several different programs that you can receive certifications from. They have schools all over the country so there more than likely is one in your area. These schools that are members of the National Association of Heavy Equipment Training Schools all must follow the requirements to be a member. Heavy Equipment Operator 1 consists of learning the basics about the heavy equipment industry as well as learning the basics about operating heavy equipment. This is also a requirement if the student is going for level II or level III. If the student is not going onto other levels then they will have the opportunity to find work at an entry level. They will get a certification when they finish this level and will be able limited to just basic use of backhoes, wheel loaders, skid steers and tractors. To qualify for this program you need a valid drivers license, complete the application and be accepted into the program.

The Heavy Equipment Operator II is a program that is more advanced than program I and the student will learn a lot more difficult equipment than in the earlier program. When they graduate from this program they will have a better chance at getting an entry level or higher with this certification. This program equips you with skills from program I and adds these pieces of heavy equipment as well, water pulls, forklifts and bulldozers. Requirements to get into this program is certification from program I, drivers license, application and acceptance.

Crane Operation program is one of the more advanced programs that is offered. In order to qualify for this program the student must either have certifications in both Heavy Equipment Operator I and II. Or they can have on the job experience that qualifies them. Both of these must be verifiable. If the student is unable to get verification then they can take a basic skills test and if they pass they will be admitted as long as they have a drivers license and a completed application.

Most people are already aware of the concept of having a 'subconscious' mind as well as a 'conscious' mind. In fact, it is without a doubt one of the most powerful tools you have at your disposal, but you need to bear in mind that while your subconscious mind can be your best friend, it can also be your worst enemy, since it's the subconscious mind that essentially controls the life you live. So, what exactly is the subconscious mind, and why is it important that we pay attention to it?

Even though many professionals have tried to convince us otherwise, the vast majority of people acknowledge the fact that they have a subconscious mind, and that it is literally a mind within a mind. As such, one could compare it to a control board, in that it is able to direct us to carry out certain actions and to think certain thoughts. You could also view it as being that voice inside your head that you hear when you're in times of trouble. Of course, each person's subconscious mind communicates with them differently from the next. In other words, no two people have the same sort of subconscious mind even if they have been together since birth, and even if they grew up under the exact same conditions. In fact, not even identical twins have the same subconscious mind as each other.

If you take a minute to think about it, you'll realize that you've often heard your inner mind communicating with you. For example, you could have been on the brink of making an extremely important decision when something in your mind told you to back off. Hopefully, if you did back off, it was the right thing to do. Unfortunately though, that self same inner voice can also be a hindrance, in that it can often tell you that you cannot do something, when in fact there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to. It could for example manage to convince you that you're simply not good enough, or that you're not very attractive. As such, we can see that the subconscious mind is in essence what you think of yourself deep down.

Of course, if those thoughts which come from deep within are negative, then there's not much chance that you will ever be able to enjoy the type of life you long for. On a more positive note; it is possible to change the way a subconscious mind thinks, and in so doing, you can successfully changed the way you live your life so that you can enjoy it to the fullest.

In order to achieve this, many people rely on affirmations so that they can change the way they think. Affirmations are essentially positive statements which one can repeat to oneself several times each day. Unlike subliminal messaging scripts, affirmations don't require you to spend any money, simply because you can do it yourself at home. The first step you need to take is to start thinking about which aspect of your life you would like to change, and then you can follow up by thinking about yourself.

If for example you want to lose weight, then instead of thinking of yourself as being overweight, you should be repeating to yourself a statement like, 'my weight is absolutely perfect'. The more you enforce this message upon yourself, the more effective it will be. Ideally, you should write it down on a piece of paper which you can keep in your pocket and you should place a copy of it in any area of your home where you spend a good amount of time. In fact, you could even have it has a screen saver on your computer. Providing you repeat this message enough times, your subconscious mind will eventually pick up on the idea that this is what it should be thinking.

In this sort of scenario, you would soon begin smoking less and less until you reached that point where you were able to kick the habit altogether. Of course, this is just one example but the same approach can be applied to any aspect of your life.

If you're still not sure then let's take a look at a different scenario, and one which you more than likely experienced before yourself. You wake up in the morning and realize you're going to be late for work, and the first thing that comes to mind, is that you say to yourself you can't believe it's going to be another one of those days. After getting out of the shower you get dressed only to realize that you can't remember where you put your keys. Yes, it's definitely going to be one of those days. After some frantic searching you find your keys and head out to your car but unfortunately your dog has messed right in the center of the pathway and now you have it all over the underneath of your shoe. Even when you do eventually to get to work, you're faced with one problem after another. In fact it gets steadily worse until it reaches a point where you firmly believe it cannot get worse than what it already is, only to discover it gets significantly worse.

Of course the vast majority of people will blame this all on coincidence, but believe me, there is no such thing as coincidence. In fact there's a reason for everything that happens, and when you have this sort of day the reason is usually your subconscious mind.

In recent times books such as 'The Secret' have tried extremely hard to explain this phenomena in scientific terms which is why it is now known as the 'Law of Attraction', which states that a person's subconscious mind not only responds and reacts to real life situations, but that it actually plays a part in creating such situations.

Even though some people may consider this to sound a little crazy, quantum physics is however in agreement with this theory. In fact, it has already been proven that matter is linked intrinsically to the mind of the observer. Interestingly enough, many religions have been preaching this long before science came along and proved it.

What you need to bear in mind is that because you can create your own reality with your subconscious mind, it is possible to create a reality of your choice. 4. The heart chakra is found in the middle of the chest, and its chakra sound is AH. This is the sound that is emitted when in love, and this is why the heart chakra is usually related to love. This chakra sound can be complimented with the color green and should be started with a gentle and soft sound, that is however of a higher pitch than the last chakra sound.

5. The chakra sound for the throat chakra is EYE which has blue as its complimenting color. Like other chakra sounds, this chakra sound too has to be of a higher pitch than previous sounds

6. In between the forehead and slightly above the two eyes is the chakra sound belonging to the third eye. This chakra sound is AYE and is complimented with indigo color. This chakra sound starts with a soft and gentle tone which is however of a higher pitch than the previous sounds.

7. The crown chakra situated at the top of the head is where you chant the highest sound possible, EEE. This chakra sound is complemented with the color purple that starts with the highest sound you can make, EEE. Like other chakra sounds, this chakra sound also starts softly and gently.

You have to close your eyes when chanting all the chakra sounds while concentrating on different chakras. When you focus on the different chakras, you find chakra sounds projecting from the respective chakras. And with the resonance of the sound chakras, each chakra starts balancing and aligning with other chakras.

Wicker furniture for the porch will give it a nice summer look as well and you can always match your colors between the swing and the wicker furniture.

Rams Beat Chiefs In NFL Preseason Finale

The Kansas City Chiefs have had an awful preseason, primarily due to their inability to put points on the board. This liability cost offensive coordinator Chan Gailey his job earlier in the week, but in the first game with head coach Todd Haley calling the plays it was more of the same as the Chiefs couldn't find the end zone. St. Louis scored an offensive touchdown late in the first half and used a third quarter interception return for a score to beat Kansas City 17-9. The Chiefs finished the NFL preseason with a winless 0-4 record, while St. Louis posted a 3-1 mark.

NFL preseason betting aficionados who took a flyer on the Rams were rewarded by their outright victory in the pickem game. Kansas City also finished 0-4 against the spread, while St. Louis finished 3-1 to the number. The combined 26 points put on the board went well UNDER the posted total of 36.

The only offense that the Chiefs were able to generate came off the foot of placekicker Ryan Succop who converted three field goals. Despite his teams continued offensive struggles, Haley tried to put a positive spin on the situation:

"I made a few mistakes out there but overall it felt good. Obviously, there were a couple of plays I would like to have back. After I got the feel a little bit, I didn't feel too out of sync with the game and what was going on. I thought our defense gave us a chance to win. Running the football is something we can feel good about."

The Chiefs moved the ball well, generating 406 yards of total offense but had trouble converting in the red zone. They also turned the ball over three times, the most costly a third quarter interception thrown by reserve QB Tyler Thigpen. The Rams Quincy Butler took the interception to the house for a 28 yard touchdown return. Afterwards, he suggested that his team has a new mindset:

"Every time the ball's in the air, we all think 'It's my ball. We all go and get it."

Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo was generally pleased with his teams effort in the victory:

"It was good to get those guys back in the swing. Now we've just got to get Marc (Bulger) cranked up."

Spagnuolo wasnt too concerned about all of the yardage his team gave up:

"The silver lining is the defense held them and got them to kick a field goal. So there's some good and bad always."

St. Louis will open their regular season against the Seattle Seahawks. The Chiefs will also open the NFL 2009 campaign on the road, heading to Baltimore to take on the Ravens.
